Students - Getting started as a student

RooKi connects school leavers and students with jobs, training and career guidance, and it is free forever for students.

Create your account

Sign up from the audience links on the sign-in screen. Choose Student, then use "Create your free profile" under the promise "Free forever for students. Always." There is nothing to pay and no card to add. The welcome copy reads "Join Queensland students and school leavers launching their careers."

Employer and training provider sign-in are separate doors, so if a link sent you to the employer sign-in, go back and pick Student on the sign-in screen.

What happens next

There is no step-by-step setup wizard. After you create your account you land on your dashboard, and the app nudges you to build your profile from there.

Fill in your basics

Your basics are first name, last name, city, state, postcode, bio and photo. Applying without them returns "complete your basic profile information before applying", and enquiring returns "complete your basic profile information before enquiring". A profile photo can be a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.

The more complete your profile is, the more you unlock: below 30% completeness you are "Invisible to employers", and at 80% or more you are "Visible to employers" and receive a +5 match boost.

Your account type

Your account type is chosen on first sign-in and cannot be changed by you. If you picked the wrong one, contact support through the chat bubble and ask for help.

If something looks wrong

If the app shows "RooKi is under maintenance — please wait a few minutes and try again", a banner about a brief update, or "Update available — reload the page to get the latest version", reloading the page clears it.
